and/ore fine jewelry was founded in San Francisco's Hayes Valley district during the waning summer months of 2004. A lifelong interest in adornment and jewelry design reasserted itself upon designer A's return to the Bay Area from Boston's Cold Coast. The first pieces, a pair of asymmetrical calcite earrings, were inspired by mid-century modern design. Signature pieces in the first collection were three-piece earring sets based on modular principles, allowing the wearer to choose between either balance or asymmetry, and thus and/ore was born.
Line weight, contrast, and color theory are central to each collection. Designs focus on length, asymmetry, tensility, and the illusion of weight to create dynamism, and are made to move with the wearer. Draping techniques are employed to integrate the piece into the body to transcend mere decorative properties.
Our luxe materials are carefully considered and selected with discerning eyes. Neither plated nor base metals are ever used. Fourteen karat gold, gold-fill, sterling silver and vermeil components are employed for beauty and durability.
Each piece is handmade by the designer and is either one-of-a-kind or in limited production.
